Eleventh Annual Weblog Awards: The 2011 Bloggies
The Eleventh Annual Weblog Awards (2011), known familiarly as the Bloggies, are now open for voting until February 20, 2011 at 10pm EST.
There are 30 categories in total. The regional categories are: Australian (or New Zealand), Asian (including the Middle East), African, European, Latin American, Canadian (in that order). The categories by topic are: Science, Technology (or Computer), LGBT, Religion, Politics, Sports, Travel, Photography, Art/Craft (or Design), Food, Parenting, Music, Gossip, Entertainment, Fashion (or Beauty), Topical (on a distinct topic not in the other categories). In addition, there are special categories: Designed, Humorous, Writing, Group, Secret, New, Lifetime.
The final category is "Weblog of the Year". The winner is awarded 2,011 US cents, that it, $20.11 USD. Last year's winner, The Pioneer Woman (Ree Drummond), also won that year for Best Writing, and Best Designed. The same blog is nominated this year in a number of categories: Photography, Food, Parenting, Designed, Humorous, Writing, and again as Best Weblog of the Year.
Saudi blogger Eman Al Nafjan has earned a well-deserved nomination this year in the category of "Best Asian Weblog: Weblogs from Asia, including the Middle East".
Winners will be announced on Sunday February 27, 2011 from 8-10:30pm EST (UTC -5) on the Bloggies Twitter and Facebook sites, approximately every 5 minutes, then posted all posted at once on the Bloggies website.
As with other blog awards this is an opportunity to support favourites, and find new ones.
I also made a suggestion through the contact form provided, and at the invitation to suggest categories for 2012, that the "Middle East", or the "Middle East and North Africa" should be a separate category. You might want to do so as well, if you agree.
Be sure to vote before the February 20th deadline!
