The purpose of this blog is to explore cross-cultural Saudi/non-Saudi relationships and their broader Arab-Muslim/Western contexts, as well as the background for improving understanding across these cultures.
I wanna object! But can`t ;-D
Haitham--LOL :DThe ;) was to highlight all the irony in thinking it is a man's world, and having Christina Aguilera sing it so well. As was said about Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire: "Sure he was great, but don't forget Ginger Rogers did everything he did backwards . . . and in high heels!"-- Bob Thaves 1982 © NEA Inc.One might say Christina Aguilera does everything James Brown did in this song, in platinum and high heels. In many ways it certainly is a man's world, especially in the public sphere. In the private sphere, it is more debatable, as traditional family structures still give women a lot of power, much of it unacknowledged, in the domestic sphere. Each country and culture has its challenges for making men's and women's lives more equitable. I always thing of feminisms (there are definitely many forms of feminism) as enriching both genders...ultimately--even if some men have to be dragged kicking and screaming towards reality! LOL :DThanks for your comment!I hope others will dare to leap into the ambiguities of the song and the ;)!:D
awaiting comments then :)
